Our Mission

Placemake Arts Northwest was incorporated in March 2025 with a clear mission: to secure Washington State Creative District certification for communities in Whatcom County, starting with Ferndale. We believe arts and culture are powerful engines for economic development, community identity, and quality of life.

State certification provides access to highway signage, up to $50,000 in capital funding, regional marketing support, and enhanced tourism infrastructure. We frame this as an economic development initiative — success is measured by community engagement, tourism impact, and sustainable funding.
